Voting InformatiTo register to vote in Volusia County you must be:

Be at least 18 years of age (may preregister at 16)

Be a citizen of the United States

Be a legal resident of the State of Florida
-
Be a legal resident of the county in which that person seeks to be registered; and registers pursuant to the Florida Election Code.
The following persons, who might be otherwise qualified, are not entitled to register or vote:

A person who has been adjudicated mentally incapacitated with respect to voting in this or any other state and who has not had his or her right to vote restored pursuant to law.

A person who has been convicted of any felony by any court of record and who has not had his or her right to vote restored pursuant to law.

A person who is not registered may not vote.

Per Florida Statute, residents must be registered to vote at least 29 days before an election to be eligible to vote in that election.

Absentee Voting
In Volusia County, any voter can now vote by mail in any election. You do not need a reason to Vote by Mail. Don't feel like going to the polls? Simply vote by mail. Now there is "no excuse" not to vote!

Registered Volusia County voters may vote by absentee ballot. If not a resident of Volusia County, visit the Florida Division of Elections website for links to other counties in Florida.

A request for an absentee ballot cannot be processed if a voter's registration record is not current.

A voter, an immediate family member or a legal guardian directed by the voter, may request an absentee ballot.

An absentee ballot may be requested for a specific election or for all elections through the calendar year of the second regularly scheduled general elections. (2018)

A request for an absentee ballot to be mailed to a voter must be received by the Department of Elections no later than 5:00 pm on the sixth day prior to the election.

A voter must provide name, permanent Volusia County residence address, date of birth, and signature (if written request).

Requests for absentee ballots may be made in person, by mail, phone, fax, email, or online.
